IBA 30MeV proton cyclotron, Cyclone® IKON was successfully rigged at NRT

On October 30, 2024, NRT and the Belgium-based company, IBA (Ion Beam Applications S.A., IBA) have successfully rigged a 30MeV cyclotron, Cyclone® IKON on NRT's premise. The cyclotron is designed and manufactured by IBA, and procured by NRT in 2022. 

In April 2022, NRT launched its project of accelerator and radiopharmaceuticals, with a total investment of RMB 250 million and a construction area of 18,274.17 square meters. NRT and IBA have been working closely and have successfully completed the design, manufacturing and transportation of the cyclotron. 

With this major milestone, this high-energy cyclotron will enable NRT to accelerate the research and development of future radionuclides, ensuring the domestic production of reliable medical isotopes in urgent clinical demand. It includes the production of Germanium-68, Actinium-225, Iodine-123, Copper-64, Zirconium-89 and Indium-111, etc.
